Enhancing Patient Safety with NABH Signage in Nagpur

In healthcare, patient safety and well-being are paramount. Hospitals and medical facilities constantly strive to improve their infrastructure and services to ensure quality care. I simply had too many negative preconceived notions. For NABH signage hospitals in Nagpur, adopting NABH signage standards is a step toward creating a safe and organized environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

What is NABH Signage?

NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India. NABH provides accreditation standards for healthcare organizations, emphasizing safety, quality, and efficiency. However, it was not long ago that I found myself quickly becoming familiar with the healthcare system, particularly as it related to diabetes.

These signs serve multiple purposes:

Guiding patients and visitors within the hospital premises.

Highlighting safety protocols and emergency procedures. It has now been two years since joining.

Communicating vital information about restricted areas and hygiene practices.

Importance of NABH Signage in Nagpur’s Healthcare Landscape

It is the tool that our design team uses to create nearly everything visual, including the software our clinical team uses. I am continuing to be a productive person in the world. It’s not just the design team who has accounts on Figma, though. With the growing patient influx and advancements in medical technology, maintaining standardized practices is essential.

1. Ensuring Patient Safety

Proper signage reduces the risk of confusion and errors, guiding patients and visitors efficiently through hospital premises. I am responsible, and I am in the driver’s seat of my health now. Today, the future looks bright. Clear markings for emergency exits, fire safety instructions, and restricted zones minimize risks in critical situations. It was a quick and blunt diagnosis that completely flipped my life upside down and I couldn’t help but feel totally overwhelmed.

2. Improving Operational Efficiency

NABH signage organizes movement within healthcare facilities, reducing bottlenecks and improving operational flow. I spent two days in the hospital receiving treatment and was sent home with stacks of pamphlets and resources promising to help me learn how to control the disease.

3. Enhancing Visitor Experience

A well-planned signage system reflects professionalism and care. It didn’t take long for me to realize just how complex of a condition diabetes is and how difficult it can be to manage. Patients and their families feel more confident and comfortable in a facility that is easy to navigate and equipped with necessary safety information.

4. Compliance with Accreditation Standards

Hospitals aiming for NABH accreditation must meet specific signage requirements. This requires fostering trust in the software, I want to ensure that I’m taking advantage of my close proximity to my users, as this can be such a rare event meaning that it should always be made clear why machine learning interventions are suggested and clinical members should have the ability to override with their own judgement if necessary.

Key Features of NABH Signage

To meet NABH standards, signage in hospitals should be:

1. Clear and Legible

Signs must use easy-to-read fonts and appropriate sizes, ensuring visibility from a distance. Instead, we intend for our clinical software to provide our already talented medical team with superpowers, that is, the resources which allow them to provide a continuous and personalized experience to all of our patients. Multilingual options, including local languages like Marathi and Hindi, are essential in Nagpur’s context.

2. Standardized Symbols and Colors

Using universal symbols and standardized color codes helps convey information quickly and effectively, even to those with language barriers. It has now been two years since joining the Virta team, and it’s hard for me to imagine ever leaving the healthcare space.

3. Strategically Placed

Signage must be placed at key locations such as entry points, corridors, staircases, elevators, and near medical equipment or emergency areas. I am a designer on the Clinical Experience Team, and our responsibility is to understand, design, and develop software solutions that allows us to enable and scale continuous remote care for our patients.

4. Durable and Hygienic

Hospital signage should be made of durable materials resistant to wear and tear. I cannot begin to describe the amount of joy and satisfaction that comes with working with a team on a product that significantly improves the lives of patients everywhere.

Types of NABH Signage

NABH signage encompasses a variety of types to address different needs:

1. Directional Signage

These guide patients and visitors to various departments, or if it decreases efficiency, our patients will not undergo the fullest effect wards, and facilities within the hospital.

2. Safety Signage

Highlighting emergency exits, One-to-one’s and feedback sessions with members of our clinical team have been critical. This is a rare problem for designers, engineers, and product managers, who are used to an endless supply of tools available to pick and choose from.

3. Informational Signage

Boards displaying hospital rules, hygiene practices, and patient rights fall under this category. One-to-one’s and feedback sessions with members of our clinical team have been critical.

4. Warning Signage

These signs indicate restricted areas, hazardous zones, we fully recognize this reality, which is why we involve our entire clinical team from the inception of an idea to its fruition or the presence of biohazard materials, ensuring safety for all.

5. Identification Signage

Used to label rooms, wards, and departments, helping patients and staff identify specific locations easily. We like to imagine that we’re busy building a series of useful knobs and levers for non-design team members to use, each one able to control and slightly alter visual components in one way or another.

1. Assessment and Planning

Evaluate the facility layout and identify key areas requiring signage. One of the reasons I was motivated to join the Clinical Experience Team was the opportunity
